# Write bytes

> No tag: the server asks the client for the content of a write the client opened, quoting the write id; the client answers with the bytes in zero or more channel responses, an error last, and the channel response finish, which ends the content.

Canonical: https://provider.diverge.network/2.3.0/endpoints/containers-tools-connect/server/write-bytes/
Specification revision: 2.3.0

The server opens this channel in answer to a [write](/2.3.0/endpoints/containers-tools-connect/client/write/)
channel the client opened, quoting the client's write id. What
arrives on it is the content of the file.

- **The request.** The write id,
  four bytes. [Request](/2.3.0/endpoints/containers-tools-connect/server/write-bytes/request/) states
  its form.
- **The response.** The content in zero or more channel responses,
an error last, and the channel response finish.
  [Response](/2.3.0/endpoints/containers-tools-connect/server/write-bytes/response/) states the
  sequence.
- **What the server does with it.** The server streams each piece
  into the proxy's [`/filesystem/write`](/2.3.0/proxy/filesystem/write/)
for the path of the write, as it arrives, and ends the content
when the channel finishes. After the content has ended, it answers
the client's write channel. Content that ends in an error, or without a finish, is a
  write that did not happen.
