# Server Frames

> The six frame types a server sends: authorization, response, response finish, channel request, channel response, and channel response finish.

Canonical: https://provider.diverge.network/2.3.0/frames/server/
Specification revision: 2.3.0

A server sends six frame types.

- **Type `0` — authorization.** The scope and channel fields are
ignored. The payload is a credential. Sent only when the server is
the connection's initiator, only as the connection's first frame —
  see [Authorization](/2.3.0/authorization/).
- **Type `2` — response.** One piece of the answer to a
  [scope](/2.3.0/frames/scopes/)'s request. The scope field names the scope;
the channel field is ignored. The payload is the piece.
- **Type `3` — response finish.** Ends a scope. The scope field names
it; the channel field is ignored; there is no payload. It is the
  only way a scope ends.
- **Type `4` — channel request.** Opens a
[channel](/2.3.0/frames/channels/) within an existing scope. The scope
field names that scope; the channel field carries a number of the
server's choosing. The payload is the channel's one request.
- **Type `5` — channel response.** Answers a channel *the client
opened*, quoting the client's channel number. The payload is one
  piece of the answer.
- **Type `6` — channel response finish.** Ends a channel the client
opened, quoting its number. It carries no payload, and it is the
only way such a channel ends.
